The first commercial order we had for Pods was for a nightclub in Brighton. We had just finished the first Pod shape (the HousePod), which was a simple two-way loudspeaker design. The size of the venue required a more powerful solution based around the styling of the HousePod. Huge constraints on time meant that we needed a remedy to the slow procedure of pattern and mold creation. The logical progression was to extend the bottom half of the original Pod pattern and replace the port part of the original shape with a second driver.

This allowed the form to ‘evolve’ more naturally into its new application and create a more natural lineage between the first two Pod pieces. This established a style that can be seen in most of my work.

The TechnoPod was born.
